Health, Safety & Wellbeing
Along with expert colleagues, I have worked in the construction industry for the last 15 years. Having initially spent two years working with the leadership team on the construction of T5 at Heathrow, I was asked by Laing O’Rourke to develop a safety leadership programme for their 1,000 senior leaders.
One thing led to another and I ended up working on the 2012 Olympics, Crossrail, HS2, Northern Line Extension, Thames Tideway, and many other projects, both in the UK and abroad.
Work in this area, mostly in collaboration with Dr Rob Archer and Nick Andrews, has included:
- Ferrovial’s LIFE Programme, which has been running since 2012.
- Laing O’Rourke’s Take 5 initiative, which has been self-delivered to several thousand operatives and supervisors.
- Just Think, which has been developed and adapted across Heathrow Airport for people working in security, construction, baggage, and airside.
Our current focus is on giving people the skills to make values-based decisions in high-pressure environments. We seek to incorporate the latest thinking from the worlds of neuroscience and clinical psychology in a way that resonates with anyone, at any level, in any part of the world.
In recent months we have received an unprecedented volume of requests to focus on the wellbeing side of Health, Safety and Wellbeing. Our work on resilience, psychological flexibility and sustaining high performance has been road-tested in many different countries. Please get in touch to find out more.
